PaxeraHealth and Saudi German Health Highlight AI-Driven Sports Medicine Research at ECR 2026

Press Release – Vienna, Austria – March 2026, At the European Congress of Radiology 2026, PaxeraHealth and Saudi German Health announced a major milestone in AI-driven sports medicine research, demonstrating how advanced enterprise imaging technologies are contributing to global scientific innovation.
The Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Department at Saudi German Hospital Cairo, through its Sports Injuries Diagnostic Unit, presented three scientific research studies exploring the role of artificial intelligence in improving diagnosis, injury classification, and prediction of return-to-play timelines as well as assessing athletic pubalgia severity and forecasting long-term pain for professional athletes.
The first research study titled:
“MRI Findings Affecting the Time to Return to Play (RTP) and Re-injury Rate with the Potential Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Most Common Thigh Muscle Injuries in Professional Football Players.”
The second research presented at ECR 2026 is titled:
“Calf Myo-connective Injuries at Gastrocnemius-Soleus Interface: MRI Findings and Classification Systems for Predicting Time to Return-to-Play (RTP) and Re-Injury Risk in Professional Athletes.”
The third research titled:
“Proposed MRI Grading System and Predictive AI Model for Athletic Pubalgia: Long-Term Pain Limitation Assessment in Professional Football Players”
The studies were led by Prof. Dr. Yasser Abd El Fattah Hassan and Prof. Dr. Sherif El Hennawy, highlighting the growing international recognition of sports injury imaging research emerging from Egypt and the Middle East.
The research focuses on how advanced MRI analysis combined with artificial intelligence can enhance injury classification, improve diagnostic precision, and provide predictive insights into return-to-play (RTP) timelines while reducing the risk of re-injury and persistent pain among professional athletes.
A key technological component supporting this research initiative is ARK, PaxeraHealth’s AI orchestration and development platform. ARK enables healthcare organizations to curate large-scale imaging datasets, manage imaging and clinical metadata, develop and validate AI models, and deploy them securely across enterprise imaging environments.
Through this collaboration, ARK supported the curation and analysis of one of the region’s most comprehensive imaging datasets for sports injuries. The platform enables advanced musculoskeletal imaging analytics, improves reporting standardization, and facilitates research-grade AI model development.
This milestone represents the outcome of a long-term research journey at Saudi German Hospital Cairo, combining sustained clinical expertise, structured imaging data, and innovation powered by PaxeraHealth’s AI-native enterprise imaging technologies.
Together, Saudi German Health and PaxeraHealth reaffirm their commitment to advancing AI-powered enterprise imaging, clinical research, and innovation in sports medicine, helping improve patient outcomes and shaping the future of athlete care across Egypt, the Middle East, and the global medical community.
